We believe that God has placed Grace Bible Church in this community for a reason (Acts 17:26-27)--to be "ambassadors" for Him (2 Corinthians 5:17-20). In this community, it is our desire to "live such good lives among the unbelievers...they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us." (1 Peter 2:12)
Our philosophy of local outreach is to serve our community through the building of relationships in order share the Gospel of Jesus. Because our God is a kind, loving, gracious, and compassionate God who helps the needy, widows, and orphans (Ps. 68:5), we are a people who seek to do the same (Ps. 82:3). But, serving the needs of others is only a means to the end of being able to share the grace offered by our Hero, Jesus.
Local Outreach Opportunities
- Fishes & Loaves – Once a month, we open up our pantry to help families within the La Vernia community. Contact Linda Fischer (210) 324-4074
- La Vernia Food Pantry – This group
serves monthly at the local food pantry in La Vernia. Contact Diann Pryor (210) 857-8844.
- Family Partnerships – Members of Grace Bible
Church are encouraged to adopt a local family in need of assistance throughout
the year. Contact the church office for
additional information.
- Nursing Home - Members of Grace Bible Church spend time with the elderly
at the local nursing home. Contact Art & Joyce Gray (210) 649-1233
- Threads of Love - Through this ministry, members of Grace Bible Church sew baby
clothes
for preemie babies which are delivered to area hospitals. Contact Sharon Hasenbeck (210) 633-0699.
- Get-'R-Done-in-a-Day - In one day, members of Grace blitz the La Vernia community with incredible acts of service. Whether it's mowing local business' lawns, landscaping yards of the elderly, completing basic home repairs, or just spending time with the elderly at the Nursing Home, this day is one that our whole community looks forward to.
